I use math counters for my 1-5 kids. I am definitely going to try this next year! I also like the idea of them creating their own pattern and demonstrating it.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05477728611648539135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730939748391575394.post-78999147018584674492011-10-18T19:06:30.631-05:002011-10-18T19:06:30.631-05:00I created the staff sheets, copied them and then l...I created the staff sheets, copied them and then laminated them. I'm using those with my students, and this activity will be great to couple with a refresher of the book. I also use a slide whistle and have students echo, so that would be something to help them when they "read" the ups and downs of the notes.Mrs. Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08308458632355638367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730939748391575394.post-41259007976664550262011-02-10T15:34:20.469-06:002011-02-10T15:34:20.469-06:00Nope. In Kindergarten the focus on music "reading" with the bottlecap staff is that they can correctly place and identify the difference between a line note and a space note. The vocalization was not precise. We did "woooo" from low to high and "weeee" from high to low (like going down a slide). The fun part was letting them break into small groups and make up their own. *giggle* Lots of silly sounds then!Tracy Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17956326480720210937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730939748391575394.post-8521284605490822312011-01-27T09:58:36.183-06:002011-01-27T09:58:36.183-06:00I am wondering if you told your students the names...I am wondering if you told your students the names of the notes on the lines and spaces yet, and whether they sang precise pitches after placing the bottle caps on lines and spaces.<br />Thanks!Signehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12125103359997858615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730939748391575394.post-17454035397930488912011-01-27T09:01:33.723-06:002011-01-27T09:01:33.723-06:00I am curious to know whether you tell students the...I am curious to know whether you tell students the names of these lines and spaces. I am also curious to know whether, when they sing the patterns, you have them singing precise individual pitches. Thanks!Signehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12125103359997858615noreply@blogger.com
